L.A. MBOC refers businesses to agencies and City departments to assist with meeting their company's needs. Referrals are made for the following:

CERTIFICATION
Certification as a disadvantaged, minority and/or woman business enterprise (DBE/MBE/WBE) is available through the City of Los Angeles:

  • The California Unified Certification Program (CUCP) provides DBE certification from one certifying agency in California.
  • The CUCP is honored throughout the state and eliminates duplicate or multiple agency DBE certifications. In addition, certified firms are listed in the statewide directory of DBE/MBE/WBE firms.

Certification as a DBE/MBE/WBE allows additional opportunities to bid on government contracts with several agencies throughout the State of California, including the following local agencies in the Los Angeles region:

BONDING AND INSURANCE
Bonding and insurance are encouraged for the purpose of limiting business liability and are required for many public and private sector contracts. The LA MBOC refers interested businesses to bonding specialists for assistance.

  • The City of Los Angeles' Bonding program assists businesses in increasing their capacity to work on contracting opportunities.

  • Merriwether and Williams and the L.A. MBOC have established a working partnership to offer their mutual resources to their respective clients. Merriwether and Williams is not only a partner, as a minority owned and operated company they are also a client of L.A. MBOC. Working together they are making strides in utilizing the Bonding Assistance Program in the City of Los Angeles to increase opportunity and inclusion of local small and minority contractors in City contracts. They have been a key partner in helping service the minority business community.
